Let's Celebrate Ashland's 150th Birthday !

Throughout 2008, Ashland, Virginia, will be commemorating its 150th anniversary with many celebratory events and activities. Residents, organizations and businesses are encouraged to create new events or build upon existing ones and let us know about them.

This special anniversary provides an opportunity to celebrate Ashland’s history and heritage and to foster a sense of pride in our community.  Join us as we celebrate the contributions of the individuals and organizations that make up the Town’s diverse community.  2008 is our year to promote and celebrate inclusiveness, community leadership and positive contributions to the Town and its quality of life.  We look forward to celebrating Ashland’s 150th birthday with you!  - Rob Stiles, President, Team 150

May 10, 2008 - The Ashland 150 Clunker Cruise.  Bicycle Cruise around Ashland; meet at Cobblestone Bicycles (102 South Railroad Ave). If you have an old or unique bicycle, please bring it!  5:00pm.

May 11, 2008 - Bach Festival: Richmond Symphony Orchestra.  In this final installment of the Bach Festival series, Bach to Bach, concertmaster Karen Johnson and special guest and violin prodigy, 13-year-old Madison Vest, will treat concertgoers to Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins as well as his Orchestral Suite No. 3, and also arrangements by Schoenberg and Villa-Lobos, $. May 15, 2008 -  Ashland, Ashland!: A Presentation of Ashland History with Rosanne Groat Shalf  at 7:00 p.m. in the Ashland Library Multipurpose Room. Ms. Shalf will present a lively, entertaining, and informative history of the town of Ashland, VA. Refreshments served. Sponsored by the Friends of the Ashland Library.  (804) 798-4072.
